Why East Africa?

To really have impact from the get-go, we needed to start somewhere familiar to us, somewhere close to our heart, somewhere we know like the back of our hand and with organisations we were already working to support in a personal capacity; East Africa. Our goal is to grow from here, impacting more inspiring organisations from more parts of the world as our business grows, but for now, our 3 partner organisations are based in Kenya and Tanzania.

Our commitment to our partners extends beyond geographical boundaries. Through our community projects, we aim to create a sense of global solidarity. By working together, we believe in the power of collective efforts to address shared challenges and create positive change on a global scale.

Join us on this inspiring journey as we work hand in hand with our partners, striving to create a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the flourishing tapestry of their society. Together, we can make a lasting impact and build a legacy of positive change.

Al-Walidayn Centre is a family-run organisation founded in 2016 by Mr Swaleh,
To tackle the plight in a local area rife with HIV and forced-child marriages, he used his personal funds to establish the centre with the mission to provide a safe haven for orphaned, abandoned and abused children as well as to uplift the wider local community through a much needed healthcare clinic.
The centre now has 2 purpose-built girls & boys' rescue centres housing +140 children of all backgrounds and key community-serving centres such as an onsite mosque, free primary school and free hospital. The centre also supports the local community with regular food distributions.

"Al-Walidayn" means "the two parents" and like two parents, the centre has nurtured its community over the years into a thriving one by increasing literacy, promoting self-sufficiency, employment and drastically reducing mortality and spread of HIV and other diseases. The centre aspires to expand its offering to include a free secondary school and eventually, an on-site university.

Meet "Baba" Swaleh
Mr Swaleh is the founder of the Al-Walidayn Centre.
He is affectionately referred to as "Baba" which means "father" in Swahili, not just by the children of Al-Walidayn but, in fact, the entire community . Having grown up as an orphan, he has been a role model and father-figure to so many who have sought his aid and support.

Baba has dedicated his life and personal finances to supporting and growing Al-Walidayn to what it is now; a thriving micro community brimming with joy and hope.

Island Muslim Girls Orphanage (IMGO) was founded by Mama Zeinab in 2012 and now houses 65 orphaned girls of all ages. The girls are provided with a loving and nurturing home, have secular and religious education fully funded all the way to university level and their remaining family members are also supported through the centre.

The Orphanage has grown in strength over the years and now spans over two branches in the north coast of Kenya; a main branch for day to day living and learning and a second branch for school holidays, that also provides classes for local children. The orphanage has a significant impact on the lives of the girls and their family members during its 10+ years in operation and has aspirations to widen its reach and become self-sustainable so as to be able to leave a legacy well beyond the life of its founder.

Meet Mama Zeinab and Zahra, the mother-daughter duo and founder and operations manager of Island Muslim Girls Orphanage.

These women are a force to be reckoned with and have built the centre to what it is today. Despite the challenges of being women entrepreneurs in Africa, they are both unwaveringly dedicated to supporting and uplifting girls and young women, no matter the challenges.

They are the epitome of strong, determined and relentless women while also being deeply maternal and nurturing to the girls they support.

Tawfiq Orphanage Centre was founded in 2018 by Mama Shakira, out of her own family home.

The Orphanage now houses, feeds, educates and nurtures 24 children aged 2-16 in a safe environment. The orphanage is in its very early stages and is still in the process of building a home fit for the purpose for raising and caring for children of different age groups. Their aspirations are to become more self sufficient, expand and enhance their facilities to be able to cater for more children, more effectively.

Meet Mama Shakira, the founder of Tawfiq Orphanage Centre.

Mama Shakira and her husband made the decision to dedicate their home and their lives to raising children who had nowhere to go, from their own private home. Despite the challenges, Mama Shakira has managed to grow her orphanage and provide an environment filled with love for all her children.
